Position: Claremont Fiber Electromechanical Maintenance Technician (TSA)
Reports To: Claremont Fiber Maintenance Manager
Pay Range: $28-38 Based on Experience
Schedule: 12 Hour Shift, 2-2-3 Rotating Shift EOWEO

Summary of Position:
The Electromechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely providing for setup, installation, troubleshooting, repair and testing of complex mechanical/electrical equipment including automatic machines and process controls, motor control centers and related controls, computer control systems, some with human/machine interfaces, as well as basic plant electrical equipment; this includes preventive maintenance activities related to production and building equipment, machinery and components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and accurately reports personal activities on a daily, or more frequent, basis.
  • Familiarizes self with Prysmian's manufacturing environment and equipment.
  • Familiarizes self with company philosophy, procedures, and practices
  • Function as a Medical First Responder in the Fiber Plant.
  • Participates in Prysmian's pay-for-skill program.
  • Provides timely, quality, and cost-effective service and technical guidance in support of short/long-range operating plans.
  • Maintains assets to support required levels of reliability, availability, output capacity, quality, and (internal) customer service.
  • Assists the Maintenance Lead Person and/or the Maintenance Manager in determining proper installation and/or repair procedures for mechanical, electrical and/or electronic equipment.
  • Notifies the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead Person if additional hand, power or electronic diagnostic tools are required.
  • Participates in a preventive maintenance program as directed by Maintenance supervision.
  • Assures that safe work practices and company policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Assists Maintenance Lead Person and/or Maintenance Manager in establishing and maintaining optimum inventory levels of critical components.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Additional education –or- work experience  (one of three areas below or equivalent experience as determined by the maintenance manager required).

Associates degree in one of the following majors:
  • Electrical Technology
  • Electronics Technology
  • Mechanical Technology

Military - 2 years minimum service with training in one of the following fields:
  • Electrical Technology
  • Electronics Technology
  • Mechanical Technology

On the Job Training – 3 years minimum in one of the following areas:
  • Industrial maintenance – electrical
  • Industrial maintenance – electronics
  • Industrial maintenance – mechanical
  • Capable of performing low-to-high voltage electrical work, laying out and wiring complex circuits with large numbers of connections, troubleshooting and correcting faulty logic and control circuits, as well as carrying out installations, repairs and tests on virtually all production and plant equipment.
  • Capable of performing light-to-heavy mechanical work, general plumbing, general carpentry, floor and tile installation and repair.
  • Proficient in the use of basic hand tools, power tools, volt / ohm / amp meters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic equipment as may be necessary.
  • Possesses good mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude.
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and is able to function effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Analytical technical problem solver.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Fiber manufacturing experience preferred.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to lift, bend, & stoop when required and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
  • Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone

Work Environment:
This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment.  Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion. 
  • Performs jobs under varying conditions (Dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, noise, etc.)
  • Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (Shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required)
  • Required to enter walled containment areas and access roofs on an infrequent but as needed basis which will at times require working in areas that are uncomfortably hot or cold
