Overview:
Use powered industrial trucks to keep all production areas supplied with needed materials and places finished product in appropriate staging area.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for understanding and performing all tasks and responsibilities according to the specific Job Safety Practices (JSP) established for this job.
- Responsible for safety and housekeeping procedures and for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Responsible for adhering to all Prysmian health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations, including our hazardous waste handling if designated and trained to do so.
- Responsible for work instructions corresponding with job.
- Responsible for maintaining transfer logs, HFA transactions, and any other applicable paperwork.
- Responsible for initiating actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities, identifying and recording problems relating to product quality, processes, and quality systems, as well as controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming product.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or manager.
- Use HFA/MRP system to locate and transfer any needed materials.
Production Material Handler Responsibilities:
- Move finished products from production areas to appropriate staging areas.
- Dump all trash and keep area in a neat and orderly manner.
- Remove and process all scrap materials from assigned areas.
Shipping Material Handler Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming supplier trucks, verify quantity received versus packing slip, and place product in appropriate storage areas.
- Unload drum trailers, stack drums on pallets, wrap loads to stabilize, and move to storage locations.
- Move finished products from staging area to Finished Goods storage locations.
- Pick customer orders from storage racks or locations. Create stackable pallets by putting like material on each skid.
- Transfer product from one pallet, container, location to another pallet, container or location as necessary for storage or shipment.
- Wrap or band the pallets as needed to protect and stabilize product and load customer freight onto trailers.
Additional Waste Management Duties & Responsibilities for Affected Material Handlers:
- Required to transport waste and material from the facility to the chemical building. Associate is responsible to ensure proper labeling, markings, and dates. All labeling and markings must be legible. Associate must log any material brought into the chemical building in the raw material and waste binder.
- Responsible for placing material in the proper destination in the chemical building and ensuring there is adequate aisle space between rows. Associate is also responsible to ensure containers are in good condition, non-leaking, and properly closed with bungs in place.
- Must immediately report any spills that occur to the HSE Manager.
- Affected associates are responsible for safely receiving and transferring hazardous materials.
- Training includes annual RCRA training and DOT training at least every 3 years.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient basic math skills.
- Able to understand and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Able to read and interpret data and information from written or printed documents, computer monitors or other devices.
- Able to write legibly and record information accurately.
- Able to accurately enter and retrieve information to/from MRP system.
- Able to work independently or collaborate with other Team Members as necessary to balance workload.
- Able to prioritize work based on various daily demands and keep in pace with incoming and outgoing material movement requirements during the shift.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
- Powered Industrial Truck license/certification required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Corrected vision to 20/20 both near and far.
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment required for job duties and required tasks.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Occasional manual lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent climbing on and off a powered industrial truck multiple times per shift to pick, verify, apply customer labels, or put away product.
- Frequent tasks involving walking, standing, squatting and bending are required.
- Frequent tasks involving reaching and/or gripping with varied personal physical exertion/force requirements for each task.
- Frequent manually push/pull, scoot, slide, rotate, roll product or packages that are medium to large size and of various weights short distances usually on flat surfaces to place or reposition product or packages.
- Frequent use of manual material handling equipment such as dollies, carts and pallet jacks to push, pull, and/or move heavy loads short distances.
- Work overtime hours as scheduled. Extra or extended shifts may be required daily or weekly.
